2011 – Year in Review – Wedding Moments by Jeff

We always say that if we (and our cameras) could be invisible at weddings, we would.  It only makes sense.  We want to capture moments as they happen.  We want to avoid the whole “Hey look – there’s a camera – that’s my cue to act unnatural and/or run away.”  So if Brookstone ever sells a gadget that can make us invisible, we’ll be the first in line. Or we could just wear camouflage…hmmmm….

2011 was a year to remember!  We shot our first destination wedding in the country of Panama.  We shot weddings and engagements up and down the East Coast from Maryland to Maine.  We worked at a bunch of great new venues.  But most memorable of all – we met some amazing people this year!

This blog is a glimpse of what we truly love to capture on wedding days.  The moments people share that don’t need to be created.  The ones that just happen.  The ones that pull at your heart strings.  Make you laugh.  Make you cry.

Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Krystle and Dale were pulling away from where we had just done some formals with the two of them in the middle of the apple orchard.  I saw Krystle looking out the window and knew I had to get a shot.

Laura and Jarad had their wedding on a beautiful March day.  This moment was during their reveal before the ceremony.  Laughter is my favorite emotion to capture.

Lindsay helped her dad straighten his bow tie.  The expression on his face says it all.  I still have a hard time looking at this photo without choking up.

At a lot of weddings, you’ll have “that guy” who isn’t shy and can do the worm – especially after a few drinks.  This mid-air shot is a great example of the difference professional gear makes.  I also love that you can see Lindsay and Mike to the right simply dying with laughter.

Erin and Brandon also chose to see each other prior to the ceremony.  Brandon’s response to seeing Erin for the first time on their wedding day is simply priceless.

Kim and John were married at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury, MA this past April.  I captured this moment as Kim and her dad waited outside the chapel in the buggy.

If you follow us on Facebook at all, you’ve probably seen Joanna’s photo before.   Since her wedding last May, she’s shot with us two more times.  This shot from her wedding day is one of my favorites because it has both her mom and younger sister with her.  Most of the morning was spent just like this – smiling and laughing.

The flower girl from Joanna and Ryan’s wedding.  She had clearly practiced ahead of time and took her role very seriously.  I just love everything about this shot.

When you’re shooting a crazy group of people, you’re bound to get crazy pictures.  Alison and Sean had more than their fair share of crazy people in their wedding party and we had a BLAST trying to capture all their antics.  This was a moment shared between a dad and his son as we traveled on the trolley to the reception.  Makes me laugh every time.

At Amie and Brian’s wedding, the flower girl attempted to peek in and see what was going on.  Kids are always curious.

Michelle and Joel shared their first dance.  And enjoyed every moment.

I’m a sucker when it comes to kids laughing.  They’re so genuine.  Liz and Jeff’s flower girl (their niece) was full of laughs and kept everyone else entertained throughout the day.

Most everyone was downstairs.  Jacqui was ready and just had to slip her shoes on.  Brian was heading to the church and it wasn’t long before they would see each other.  I snapped this shot through the mirror.  Look closely and you can see half of the “I do” on the bottom of her shoe.

Brian shared a very special dance with his daughter.  It was obvious they have been dancing like this for years.

Entering the Omni Parker after shooting some formals around the city, I captured this shot of Rob looking over his should at Joss.  Clearly, he’s smitten.

That moment at the end of the ceremony when it’s “official” always offers a great photo opportunity.  This image from Kristin and Jason’s wedding this fall is one of my favorites.  You simply can’t fake smiles like that…

Jane and Chuck were just announced into their reception and headed toward the guests who were enthusiastically awaiting their arrival.  I would title this picture, “Look out world – here we come!”

Having a daughter myself (who isn’t allowed to marry until she’s at least 35), moments like this one between Valerie and her dad get me every time.  I can only imagine what it is like to see your little girl in her wedding dress.  What a moment!

If there’s one thing that Valerie (and Jon) did a LOT on their wedding day, it was laugh.  This was captured as we were setting up for a formal shot.

Whether he will admit it or not, Todd wouldn’t stop looking at Kara.  He couldn’t take his eyes off her during the ceremony.

Allison and her dad approached the altar.  I simply love the emotion in his face.

Allison and Tristan took time during their ceremony to pray together.  Such an intimate – and beautiful – moment between the new husband and wife.

The one day we had snow – October 29.  No one ever expected a snow storm at the end of October, but Erin and Anthony didn’t allow it to stop them from having the time of their lives!  This was a quick snap outside the church before they hopped into the awaiting limo.

Saying that Adam likes to dance is an understatement.  He and Lauren ripped up the dance floor all night.  I captured this as they were being announced into their reception at the Red Lion Inn in Cohasset.  This set the tone for the rest of the night.

Like I said above, Lauren and Adam ripped up the dance floor all night – sometimes on the shoulders of their friends.  Their expressions in this image are just awesome!
