Anabela & Larry: A Destination Wedding – Part I

I’ll never forget the original email I received from Anabela about her wedding.  It was brief and to the point.  The location was listed as “Panama (in Central America)” and her text read, “Please view the location of the wedding for ideas. Thank you!”  I was a bit dumbfounded to say the least.  Was this real?  I almost didn’t think so.  A month later, George and I were sitting at a restaurant in Manhattan having dinner with Anabela and Larry.  It was real.

Although Anabela was originally from Panama and Larry grew up on the Cape (that’s Cape Cod for anyone outside of MA), their worlds collided in New York.  Larry was already a trader on Wall Street when Anabela came to the city to pursue her career as an architect.  They started their relationship as friends.  Even though they dated other people for a while, they always ended up talking to each other about their relationships and eventually realized that what they were looking for was right in front of them.  And although I don’t know Larry’s entire trading history, I know he made his best offer ever when he proposed to Anabela.  It was also his smartest.

We met up again with Anabela and Larry last fall for their engagement session.  We first spent some time at their place and then headed over to Central Park.  Larry talked about some of the latest news on the Street as well as his book tour while Anabela filled us in on wedding plans.  I loved watching them interact.  Anabela’s smile instantly made me warm.  Larry’s laugh was totally contagious.  The combination of the two – simply perfect.

Part II to come soon.  In the meantime, if you’re looking for a good read, check out Larry’s website.  There you can purchase his NY Times best seller, A Colossal Failure of Common Sense:  The Inside Story of the Collapse of Lehman Brothers and read his perspective on the world economy.  I read the book and loved it!

A few of our favorite images from their engagement session are below.  George, Alana and I all shot together for this one.

Hangin’ out at their place.  That’s the smile I was talking about!

King and Queen of their place.

George’s awesome close up!

Alana’s perfect candid.

I give Larry an “A” for effort, but Anabela goes home with the “W” for her killer look in George’s photo.

And here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come…George took this 30 second night exposure our first night at the Bristol Buenaventura in Panama.
