December Baby Portraits

Shortly before Christmas, I had the opportunity to do a couple of child portrait sessions. I had worked with Landon and his parents, Stephanie and Steve, in the fall and was excited to be back for some Christmas pictures. They had referred Steve’s cousin, Keith and his wife Shannon to me because the wanted to have portraits of their daughter Bella. Both sessions were scheduled for the same day. I started with Bella.

Bella is one of the chubbiest babies I have ever seen. She has so many "rolls." Shannon even joked that some of her friends would be jealous of Bella’s "assets." It was pretty obvious that Bella is well-loved and even more obvious why her parents love to cuddle with her.

Shannon asked if we could take a risk and try to get some "natural" photos of Bella. Having a nine-month-old daughter myself, I knew what the "risks" would be and too familiar with the possible clean-up. We did it anyway. Bella was great. She smiled, posed and only peed once. We laughed.

We did a few more shots with some of Bella’s toys and snuck in a family portrait at the end. Then I was off to see Landon.

I had shown most of the pictures to Shannon on the back of my camera before I left, so I showed a few to Stephanie when I arrived. She loved the idea of the "natural" photos and decided to do the same with Landon. She put on the cutest little hat and a pair of Uggs on Landon and we got to work. Steve worked harder than the rest of us combined as he did everything he could think of to make Landon smile and laugh the way only a dad can do. We snuck in a family portrait at the end of the session and even include the family dog Brady.

Below are some of my favorites from these two sessions.
