Mariya and Geronimo’s Wedding

Mariya and Geronimo (a.k.a. Masha and G) were married this fall atthe beautiful Henderson House nestled in the hills of Weston, MA.  George and I had never shot here before and were blown away by the beauty of the house and the surrounding area.  Add to that one absolutely stunning couple and we were in heaven!

Masha and G met when they were attending Bentley College.  They are both the quiet and reserved accounting type…well, at least until they hit the dance floor.  They decided that prior to the ceremony that they would do a reveal and see each other prior to the ceremony and get the majority of their photos done early so they could enjoy the rest of the day.

We set up the reveal on the beautiful stone porch at then end of the house.  Katie, our current intern was with us and Russell Smithe of Mavid Productions was also there for video.  We all worked together to determine our best shooting locations as Masha and G shared their first moment together on their wedding day.  Once all the pieces were in place, we had G stand in the designated spot while Masha made her way over to him and tapped him on the shoulder.  It couldn’t have been more perfect!

The ceremony was held on the back patio of the home.  It was a simple, but beautiful ceremony.  The smiles on Masha and G’s faces during the ceremony were priceless.  And the overcast sky created absolutely stunning light.  Since it was a small wedding, we were able to do a quick “everyone” photo at the end of the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, we did a couple more family photos on the front steps and then finished up our time with just Masha and G.  Masha had purchased a white parasol with the word “Love” written on it to use as a prop.  Loved it!

The reception included toasts by the wedding party as well as both Masha and G’s parents.  A little later, a few more of Masha’s relatives gave toasts in English and Russian.  Following the toasts, we snuck outside for a quick twilight shot.

While the reception was happening, we had Katie hiding out upstairs working on a special surprise for Masha and G.  She did a same-day-edit of about three dozen photos for Masha and G to see that night.  During dinner, we were able to take a few minutes to show Masha and G the photos and they loved them!  It was a lot of fun for us as well to watch their reaction to seeing them for the first time – something we rarely see.

We’ve worked with a lot of DJ’s over the years we’ve been shooting weddings.  From the many we’ve worked with, only a handful are truly above and beyond the norm.  This was our first time working with DJ Nato.  A former club DJ and simply an incredibly talented guy – he blew us away!  He really knows how to mix and played dance music like we’ve never heard at a wedding before.  And once the party got going, it did not stop.  At all.  Everyone was dancing, including G’s dad.  I even had a chance to slow dance with my sister who was one of the bridesmaids.

Other highlights from the evening included some great nighttime portraits against one of the back walls of the home, crazy bridesmaids jumping from the stairs over and over and over and Masha lounging on the grand piano.  Simply put – it was fantastic!

Masha and G – we had way too much fun with you both.  You are an incredibly stunning couple and it was a true privilege for us to celebrate your wedding day with us.  Thanks for giving us the opportunity to be creative.  We had a blast!!  Wishing you many more insane dance parties as you celebrate your love for years to come.
