Pre-Season Practice

So a few weeks ago, George, Alana and I decided to have a practice session, a trial run of sorts before the wedding season started up. We’ve purchased some new equipment during the "off season" and also spent an afternoon brainstorming new ideas for poses and action shots. We felt it best to have a trial run for some of the ideas before we put them into production. Now we just needed a willing couple, a location and some cooperation from good ‘ol Mother Nature.

I emailed my client Dianna, who is marrying Joe this September, to see if they would be up for it. She very enthusiastically responded with a yes. Based on my interactions with her, I knew she would be fun to work with. Little did I know until the day of the shoot that Joe had actually been in the drama club in high school and was a total ham himself. Couple…check.

Where to shoot was a bit more challenging. George and Alana did some scouting and decided on shooting in the North End. They really liked all the textures and the area is incredibly representative of Boston.

Our second location was thanks to one of the nicest venue contacts we’ve worked with – Beth O’Malley at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport. She offered us the roof of the hotel. What? Yup, the roof…with amazing views of the Boston skyline and the really cool Hilton sign letters. Locations…check!

We decided to meet up on a Saturday afternoon in early April. I knew we were taking a big chance with the weather, but we had limited options. The good news is that Mother Nature was kind to us and we had a beautiful day!

Below are some of our favorites as well as a few behind-the-scenes shots we took during the shoot.

A HUGE thanks to Dianna and Joe for being so great to work with and willing to try out all our crazy ideas. Another HUGE thanks to Beth for giving us the opportunity to do a roof-top shoot and for just being so stinkin’ accommodating as always. You rock!
