Erica & Mike Say Yes!

Congratulations to Erica and Mike!  They were married this past weekend at St. Mary’s Parish in Dedham and held their reception at the Holiday Inn in Dedham.  If you’ve never seen the inside of St. Mary’s, you’re really missing something.  The architecture is incredible!  It has very high ceilings and vibrant stained glass windows that are some of the tallest I’ve ever seen.

We shot the “getting ready” pictures in Quincy right by the bay.  We were fortunate that it was not raining, but it was very windy and quite cold.  Erica was determined to take some outside pictures and did an incredible job of facing the elements, giving us the opportunity to use the wind to our advantage.  We were able to capture some really neat images with the veil and dress blowing in all directions.  And I have to thank the ladies of the bridal party for braving the elements as well!

A good friend of the family was kind enough to allow us access to their beautiful home right on the water to finish the formal pictures.  Everyone was relieved to be out of the wind!  We finished up the formal pictures and the limo and Rolls Royce were waiting outside to take everyone to the church.

The wedding party arrived at St. Mary’s to the sound of bagpipes playing and guests anxious to see Erica in her dress.  The mass provided many opportunities to photography inside this beautiful church.  We did some formal pictures with the family at the end of the mass as well.

After the mass, everyone made their way to the Holiday Inn.  George headed off to get pictures of the cake and the tables, while I located the bridal suite and the bridal party.  During the cocktail hour, we were able to round up all of Mike’s firefighting coworkers and get a group shot of all the guys!  Firefighters really are a family and their support that night of Mike and his new bride Erica were evidence enough.

The DJ announced the bridal party and Erica and Mike had their first dance.  They later had a special dance for Erica and her son, Mike and his mom, as well as a dance for Erica and her brother dedicated to the memory of their father.  The DJ did an incredible job of keeping the dance floor packed and the party going for a long time.  George and I always appreciate this because it gives us the chance to take a ton of fun pictures.  During the dancing, Erica had us move around the ballroom with her to snap some quick pictures of her and the ladies with whom she works.  They were all cosmetologists, so they all looked like they had just stepped out of  a salon.  That made our job easy!

Thank you Erica and Mike (and Barbara!) for letting us photography your wedding day!
